MRI Trailer Slab & Ductbank Reinforcement
GatorBar GFRP rebar was specified for the double-layer mat MRI trailer slab-on-grade and ductbank reinforcement at the Clarksburg VA Medical Center — a project where non-conductive, corrosion-resistant reinforcement wasn't just a preference, it was a requirement.

The original design called for #6 GFRP rebar, but the engineering team worked closely with GatorBar to develop an approved substitution: #5 GatorBar at 8" o.c. (reduced from 12" o.c.) — preserving the required reinforcement ratio while working within GatorBar's available product sizes. The substitution was formally reviewed and approved by Above Group Engineering, Design and Consulting.
Ductbank components utilized #4 GatorBar J-bars and U-bars at 24" o.c., along with #5 GatorBar for 90° bends and structural splices.
This project is a strong example of GatorBar's engineering flexibility — demonstrating how our team collaborates with engineers and contractors to deliver compliant, high-performance GFRP solutions, even when design modifications are required mid-project.
